Deux-Montagnes, June 8th, 2026 – The Mayor of Deux-Montagnes, Mr. Denis Martin, and the President of the Organizing Committee for the Deux-Montagnes MRC, Ms. Zovig Kevorkian, warmly invite all citizens of the MRC to “kick” into summer and join them on Wednesday, July 1st at Central Park in Deux-Montagnes, for a day of festivities to celebrate Canada Day, and to welcome the FIFA World Cup to Canada.
Organized by a committee of dedicated volunteers, in partnership with the City, this 55th edition of Canada Day in Deux-Montagnes remains the only official celebration of Canada’s Confederation on Montreal’s North Shore, and one of the few held in the Laurentians.
“In Deux-Montagnes, Canada Day is a unifying tradition that reflects the spirit of our community and the richness of our civic life,” said Mayor Denis Martin. “This year, the addition of activities inspired by the FIFA World Cup enriches an already exceptional program and will allow families to celebrate both our national holiday and a major global sporting event. I invite residents from across the region to join us for this festive day marked by sharing, pride, and a warm sense of community.”
“Deux-Montagnes remains without a doubt the best place to celebrate Canada Day on Montreal’s North Shore and in the Laurentians. I would like to warmly thank the event’s key partners—the City of Deux-Montagnes, the Government of Canada and the Caisse Desjardins de Saint-Eustache–Deux-Montagnes—for their essential contribution to the success of this emblematic holiday that is part of our collective heritage,” said Zovig Kevorkian of the organizing committee.
A variety of activities, for the whole family!
Starting at 11 a.m., a host of family-friendly activities will be offered on the site: inflatable games, face painting for children, train rides, bingo, cornhole, etc. Back this year, a public market will be held there from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Following the opening ceremony at 12 p.m., a Zumba class will be given, a children’s race will take place, followed by the egg toss event at 2 p.m.!
To celebrate the FIFA World Cup being held in Canada, soccer-themed activities will also be held throughout the afternoon. Révolution FC will be on hand to show off their skills and introduce our youth to the wonderful game of soccer! This was made possible with additional funding from the Government of Canada.
“As the Member of Parliament for Rivière-des-Mille-Îles, I am pleased that this Canadian Heritage initiative will allow our community to celebrate Canada Day while building excitement for the FIFA World Cup 2026. Soccer has a unique way of bringing people together, and I am proud to support the Canada Day Committee for the Deux-Montagnes MRC and Révolution FC in offering fun, inclusive and accessible activities for residents of all ages. I look forward to being there on Canada Day and to seeing our community come out in great numbers to enjoy these celebrations, ” said Linda Lapointe, Member of Parliament for Rivière-des-Mille-Îles.
Committee president Zovig Kevorkian added, “Sport has a unique ability to unite communities and inspire the next generation of athletes. I am thrilled that our government is providing this additional funding to ensure that local families can share in the excitement of Canada co-hosting the FIFA World Cup right here at home on our national holiday.”
To liven up the site, musical performances will be offered continuously from 2:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Our headliner for the evening is one of Quebec’s most powerful rock voices, the incomparable Rosa Laricchiuta. Also, as tradition dictates, a superb fireworks display will light up the sky at 10 p.m.!
The full schedule is attached to this press release and can be found on the website of the event’s organizing committee at www.celebrationcanada-mrcdm.ca .
Honorary President
The Canada Day Committee of the Deux-Montagnes MRC is pleased to announce that Mr. Florindo (Flo) Stabile, President of the Deux-Montagnes Lions Club, will be our honorary president for the 2026 edition. Mr. Stabile has been a member of the club since 2013, and has served as its president since 2016.
The local Lions Club is a mainstay of community service and activism, celebrating its 50th birthday last year. The Club provides wheelchairs, walkers and eyeglasses for those less fortunate, all the while raising money for community groups through hot dog sales, garage sales, fruit cake sales around Christmas, Italian sausage sandwiches sales at Canada Day, and of course, their all-important Book Fair in October (one of the largest in Quebec).
Generous Partners
“The Caisse Desjardins de Saint-Eustache—Deux-Montagnes is proud to reaffirm its commitment by renewing its financial support for the Canada Day celebrations. The Caisse will continue this commitment in the years ahead to support this unifying event at the heart of the community. Investing in projects that benefit the community means investing in something far greater than money alone, said Alexanne Lafrance Legault, Communications and Community Life Advisor at the Caisse “
The committee also acknowledges the strong support of:
- Benoit Charette, Provincial Member of the National Assembly for Deux-Montagnes, Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility
- Linda Lapointe, Federal Member of Parliament for Rivière-des-Mille-Îles.
